- Sound quality and component rigidity are enhanced by the unique tension rod design, Threaded rods are used in the construction of these pieces inside the metal covers. These threaded rods have a threaded cap at one end and a nut and washer at the other end. When the nut is tightened, the speaker stand will become very rigid.
